We learned about the different frogs found in New Hampshire.  We had to identify five different frogs.  We did a great job!

Life Cycle of a Frog

We learned that frogs lay eggs that look like masses of jelly.  The tadpoles emerge from the jelly eggs and feed on algae.  The tadpoles breath with gills.  Then they grow their hind legs.  Next, the front legs grow.  The tail begins to shrink and the tadpole grows lungs.  Then the froglet becomes a FROG!

Frog Diet

Frogs have long sticky tongues that are good for catching bugs.  Most frogs eat bugs.  But, we learned some frogs also eat mice and snakes and even other frogs.
